Building connections at Pinjarra Kindergarten
For Sandy, volunteering at her child’s kindergarten has been about more than just lending a hand, it’s been about building connections and being part of a community.
“I wanted to build stronger connections with our kindergarten community, meet other families, and contribute in a way that supports both the children and the educators,” she explained.
From helping with events and projects to joining excursions, Sandy has embraced every opportunity to get involved. One of her favourite experiences was joining the children on a trip to Cheong Park.
“I helped the children explore, play, and enjoy outdoor activities. It was a great way to support their learning through play and to see their excitement in a new environment.”
Unexpected rewards
The rewards of volunteering have extended far beyond the activities themselves. Sandy says the most meaningful part has been the time spent observing and engaging with the children.
“Spending time in the kindergarten and watching how the Educators communicate with the children has been incredibly rewarding,” Sandy explained.
“I’ve learned that children have their own unique ideas, and when you take the time to be curious about what they’re doing and ask them questions, their answers can truly surprise and inspire you.”
For Sandy, volunteering has strengthened not only her connection with the kindergarten but also her understanding of the importance of early learning and community.
